The AC pressure switch monitors refrigerant pressure on both the high and low sides of the system, cutting power to the compressor when pressures fall outside safe limits. A pressure that is too low signals a refrigerant leak and risks compressor damage. A pressure that is too high signals a blockage and risks damage to the system.
