Goss Pre-Catalytic Converter Oxygen Sensor OX487 Nissan 350Z DE

OX487 · Pre-Cat · Upstream · 5 Wire · Right Hand · Nissan 350Z Z33 DE · VQ35DE · From November 2004 · Sold as 2

The Goss OX487 is the pre-catalytic converter (upstream) oxygen sensor for the Nissan 350Z DE (VQ35DE) built from November 2004. It is a 5-wire sensor sold as a set of 2, supplied with a direct-fit factory-matched connector for plug and play installation. Goss has been an Australian automotive parts brand for over 80 years, sourcing to OEM specification for the Australian and New Zealand market. The OX487 is the value-priced option for this application alongside the NTK AFR722-EE20 premium alternative.

From November 2004 the VQ35DE moved to a 5-wire wideband oxygen sensor in the upstream pre-cat position. The pre-cat sensors are the primary fuel control sensors on the 350Z, providing closed-loop feedback to the ECU to maintain the correct air to fuel ratio. A faulty pre-cat sensor directly affects fuel economy, throttle response, and emissions output and is one of the most common causes of check engine lights on the 350Z DE platform.

Common symptoms of a faulty pre-cat oxygen sensor:

• Check engine light with upstream O2 fault codes (P0130, P0131, P0132, P0133, P0134, P0150 or similar)

• Increased fuel consumption

• Rough idle or hesitation under acceleration

• Reduced engine performance

• Failed emissions test

• Note: a faulty pre-cat sensor can also falsely trigger catalytic converter efficiency codes (P0420 / P0430)

Suits VQ35DE 350Z built from November 2004 only. 350Z DE models built up to November 2004 use the NTK OZA817-EE1 instead. Confirm your build date from your compliance plate before ordering.

For a premium OEM-grade alternative for this same application, see the NTK AFR722-EE20. For 350Z DE models built up to November 2004, see the NTK OZA817-EE1. Always scan for fault codes before replacing oxygen sensors to confirm the sensor is the source of the fault.
