Goss Pre-Catalytic Converter Oxygen Sensor OX642 Nissan 350Z DE

OX642 · Pre-Cat · Upstream · Right Hand · Nissan 350Z Z33 · VQ35DE · Up to November 2004 ·

The Goss OX642 is the pre-catalytic converter (upstream) oxygen sensor for the Nissan 350Z DE (VQ35DE) built up to November 2004. Sold as a set of 2 covering both the left and right bank sensor positions on the VQ35DE V6. It is a direct OEM-fit replacement supplied with a factory-matched connector for plug and play installation. Goss has been an Australian automotive parts brand for over 80 years, sourcing to OEM specification for the Australian and New Zealand market. The OX642 is the value-priced option for this application alongside the NTK OZA817-EE1 premium alternative.

The VQ35DE up to November 2004 uses narrowband zirconia oxygen sensors in the upstream pre-cat position. These sensors are the primary fuel control sensors on the 350Z, monitoring exhaust oxygen content directly after the exhaust manifold and sending closed-loop feedback to the ECU to maintain the correct air to fuel ratio. A faulty pre-cat sensor directly affects fuel economy, throttle response, and emissions output on the 350Z DE.

Common symptoms of a faulty pre-cat oxygen sensor:

• Check engine light with upstream O2 fault codes P0130, P0131, P0132, P0133, P0134, P0150 or similar

• Increased fuel consumption

• Rough idle or hesitation under acceleration

• Reduced engine performance

• Failed emissions test

• Note: a faulty pre-cat sensor can also falsely trigger catalytic converter efficiency codes P0420 or P0430

Suits VQ35DE 350Z built up to November 2004 only. 350Z DE models built from November 2004 use a 5-wire wideband sensor — see Goss OX487 or NTK AFR722-EE20 instead. Confirm your build date from your compliance plate before ordering.

For a premium OEM-grade alternative for this same application see the NTK OZA817-EE1. For 350Z DE models built from November 2004 see Goss OX487 or NTK AFR722-EE20. Always scan for fault codes before replacing oxygen sensors to confirm the sensor is the source of the fault.
