The Goss OX642 is the pre-catalytic converter (upstream) oxygen sensor for the Nissan 350Z DE (VQ35DE) built up to November 2004. The VQ35DE up to November 2004 uses narrowband zirconia oxygen sensors in the upstream pre-cat position. These sensors are the primary fuel control sensors on the 350Z, monitoring exhaust oxygen content directly after the exhaust manifold and sending closed-loop feedback to the ECU to maintain the correct air to fuel ratio. A faulty pre-cat sensor directly affects fuel economy, throttle response, and emissions output on the 350Z DE.
