The OEX OCS37 is the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor for the Nissan 350Z Z33 equipped with the VQ35DE 3.5L V6, built up to December 2006. It is identified by its red plug connector and is a direct OEM-fit replacement for the factory sensor. This sensor suits the VQ35DE application up to December 2006 only. Confirm your build date before ordering. The ECT sensor is a 2-pin thermistor type sensor mounted on the coolant crossover pipe at the rear of the engine.
The coolant temperature sensor closely monitors the engine coolant temperature and feeds this data back to the ECU continuously. The ECU uses this information to control fuel mixture enrichment on cold starts, cooling fan operation, ignition timing, and the temperature gauge on the instrument cluster. On the VQ35DE, the sensor is located on the coolant crossover pipe at the rear of the engine, behind the right cylinder head near the crossover pipe flange.
Common symptoms of a failing coolant temperature sensor:
• Check engine light with fault codes P0115, P0116, P0117, P0118 or similar ECT sensor codes
• Inaccurate or erratic coolant temperature gauge reading
• Hard cold start or extended warm-up period
• Poor fuel economy from incorrect cold-start fuel enrichment
• Cooling fans not operating correctly
• Engine running rich when warm

The sensor connector is red confirm your factory connector colour matches before ordering. 350Z models built from January 2007 onwards (VQ35HR) use a different coolant temperature sensor. Confirm your build date from your compliance plate before ordering.
Partially drain the cooling system before removal to avoid coolant spillage into the engine bay. The sensor is located at the rear of the engine on the coolant crossover pipe, behind the right cylinder head. Does not suit the 350Z HR (VQ35HR) or 370Z (VQ37VHR).
