The OEX ORS170 is the reverse light switch for the Nissan 350Z Z33 manual transmission, built up to February 2007. It is a direct OEM-fit replacement for the factory switch, restoring correct operation of the reverse lights when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. This switch is for manual transmission equipped 350Z models only. The switch is threaded into the transmission case on the driver side and is identified by its blue connector.
The reverse light switch is a simple mechanically-operated switch mounted on the outside of the transmission case. When the gear lever is moved into reverse, a mechanical plunger on the transmission engages the switch and completes the circuit to activate the reverse lights. A faulty switch is a straightforward and inexpensive repair on the 350Z manual, typically requiring only a 21mm deep socket for removal.
Common symptoms of a faulty reverse light switch:
• Reverse lights not illuminating when the vehicle is in reverse gear
• Reverse lights staying on permanently regardless of gear position
• Intermittent reverse light operation
• Reverse camera not activating (on vehicles fitted with an aftermarket reverse camera triggered by the reverse light circuit)

Manual transmission models only. Does not fit the 350Z automatic transmission variants. Does not fit the 350Z HR (VQ35HR) from February 2007 onwards or the 370Z, which use a different switch. Confirm your build date and transmission type before ordering. Before replacing the switch, check the reverse light fuse and bulbs first as these are more common causes of reverse light failure.
